No-till agriculture solves the anthropogenic erosion problem, and can have yields equal to or higher than conventional agriculture. The main reason more people don’t do it is because you can’t monocrop on it year after year.

Even switching to shallow tilling helps a lot apparently

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Hard to imagine that deposit isn't preserved inland somewhere in the north!

Very interesting. Nonzero correlation between two hazards.

there is a very simple method to locate well preserved organic archiological materials, pick a river valley, and a section of bottom land that would have had an equidistant relationship with the broadest availibility of harvestable resources, marine, forrest, mineral, hunting, and gathering, etc, and lo right at that spot will reliably be found, worldwide, a settlement that was burried in a landslide cause by deforistation of the slopes in the lovely valley microclimate that humans will reliably gravitate towards, and devestate, one intersting feature of these sites is that human remains seem to be almost universaly absent, as these were strong and observant people who aparently knew when and where to run, which unfortunately seems to have been another close, but less perfect valley.
seattle, sits right on top of a series of mega deposits from long run out slides, but in that case these are volcanic debrits and earthquake cause, rather than human, though this is just another physical situation that sets up for gravity to do it's thing, there bieng several other.
I have my suspicions about how increased heat, water and water vapour, CO², and other forces will effect geological processes in ways that have not been accounted for or even considered properly, carbonation, like rust, never sleeps

Landslide dams are closely related, and they can cause damage both upstream and downstream.
